How it works
How it works
Six steps from first question to funds, with a real person beside you and no credit check until you decide to go ahead.
Walking the business loan market on your own means repeating your story to lender after lender, filling in forms that look almost the same, and wondering whether each application is costing you on your credit file. Here's how we do it instead.
- 1
1. Your 60-second enquiry
Tell us the amount, what it's for, your region and a few facts about the business. No credit check, no documents, no commitment.
- 2
2. A specialist reads it and calls
A real person looks at your situation, then phones to fill in the gaps: trading history, any property, timing and anything awkward like arrears or IRD debt.
- 3
3. We pick the right stall
Instead of broadcasting your details, we work out which part of the market fits: bank-style, non-bank, private, unsecured or a specialist financier.
- 4
4. You see the shape of the deal
We explain what's realistic, what security and documents the lender will want, and the costs to look out for, so you can compare properly.
- 5
5. Documents and credit check, only if you go ahead
Once you decide to proceed, we tell you exactly what's needed. The credit check happens at this point, with your permission.
- 6
6. Offer, sign and settle
You get a written offer to read and compare. Once it's signed and conditions are met, funds are paid to you or to whoever needs paying.
What makes this different from applying everywhere?
A shotgun approach (applying to five lenders and hoping one bites) can leave a trail of credit enquiries that later lenders notice. We do the matching first, so any formal application goes to one lender that suits your situation. Read more in does shopping around hurt your credit?
Please be accurate on the form
The quickest path to a yes is honest information. If there's IRD debt, a default or a tight month in the bank statements, tell us up front. Lenders find these things anyway, and it's far easier to choose the right stall when we know about them from the start.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the whole process take?
It depends on the loan and the lender. Smaller unsecured amounts can move quickly once bank statements are in. Property-secured loans need a valuation and legal work, so they take longer. We'll give you a realistic timeline on the first call rather than a sales promise.
When does a credit check happen?
Only after you've talked to us and decided to go ahead with a specific option. Your first enquiry involves no credit check at all.
Do I have to accept the offer?
No. An offer is something to read, compare and question. You're free to walk away, and we'd encourage you to run it through our offer comparer first.
What should I have ready for the first call?
Just a rough picture: how much you need, what it's for, roughly how the business is trading, and whether you own property. Documents can come later.
Will I deal with the same person throughout?
Yes, a specialist stays with your enquiry so you're not repeating your story to a new voice each time.
